Hebrews 13:16…And do not forget to do good and to share with others

Spring 2008

Dear Family & Friends,
It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the New Year and now its spring. It definitely has arrived here with lots of wind and warm weather.
We trust that you’re all doing well and know that God has been faithful to you and will continue to do so as His word has promised.
This year has bought a new idea to the ministry. Some families are in desperate need of a home and we don’t have teams coming soon enough to build for them so we’ve built a temporary shelter you see on the right of the page. Yes its small (10’x12’ with 4’x10’ porch) but it will give them something to live in till their name is built. A family is living in one now. This will definitely keep them out of the strong, dusty winds we’ve been having.
As with the US, the economy in Mexico is also getting worse. Many people have lost jobs and some are only working one day a week at the factories. With that in mind, Cisto and Leti, who live next to our warehouse, asked Jim if he would build them a little store and he would pay for it by monthly installments. They had already set up a grocery store in their home and Cisto had sold his car to buy inventory. They now have a very nice store that they are proud of. (Photo on left) Cisto is a security guard and not sure of his job either, so this will help them out.
Security in Mexico – we’re sure you’ve heard of the violence between the drug lords, dealers, and police. That’s where the problem is- between drug lords, dealers, and police. We feel secure as we drive thru town each day; we’ve seen federal troops but they are mainly downtown and at the check points.
At our pastor’s meeting on April 21, Pastor Jose, who lives on the east side of Juarez, told of how his church’s cement roof had collapsed. (We usually work on the SW side) Praise God, no one was injured when it went down. We’ll be rebuilding the roof on May 17 with men from the church in Juarez and men from our church. The insulation and drywall will be done at a later time.
Jim’s shoulder-Rotor cuff was found to be in tact after MRI’s and CAT scan completed. We praise God for this. The surgeon could only assure Jim of a limited increase range of motion of his shoulder if he operated. We decided not to pursue surgery at this time. We didn’t feel the time, expense, and rehab would be worth the investment. Jim said he will try to be more careful on ladders.
